Are E numbers meaningful for vegans? The issue isn’t always clear-cut, because sometimes same E number ingredients or additives are obtained from non-animal as well as animal sources.
For example, E306 (Tocopherol) can be obtained from plant fat, therefore making it suitable for vegans. It’s also possible for it to be derived from pork fat, which would be unsuitable for vegans.
